The world’s longest sea bridge located in Qingdao city of Shandong Province in China was opened on Thursday.
The 26.4 mile-long six-lane bridge connects the Shandung & Huangdao districts, and is expected to carry more than 30,000 cars per day.
The 110ft-wide bridge would shorten the distance between the 2 centers by 18 miles, halving travel time to around 30 minutes.
Stretching across the Jiaozhou bay, the massive Y-shaped bridge was built in just 4 years at a cost of £1.42 billion.
Entirely designed by Chinese engineers, the bridge stands on 5,200 pillars and is capable of withstanding earthquakes of 8.0 magnitudes, typhoons or the impact of a 300,000 ton ship.
