Turmeric, the curry spice could help prevent heart attacks in patients who have undergone recent bypass surgery. Turmeric contains a yellow pigment, Curcimin that has antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties.
While bypass surgery boosts blood flow to the heart muscle, during this surgery that’s normally done with the heart stopped, the organ could be damaged due to absence of blood supply over a prolonged period, raising the patient’s chances of heart attack.
In a study, patients administered a turmeric extract had a 65 percent reduced risk of heart attack than patients given placebo capsules.
The findings indicate that curcumins could lessen those risks when combined with traditional drug treatment.
